Book recommendations: Pastor Ken's Posted 12.07.2015

This week we will be featuring book recommendations from each of our Peninsula pastors. Whether you are Christmas shopping for a book lover or looking for something to read, we hope you enjoy their book lists.

First up is Pastor Ken. Here are his book recommendations.

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis

Based on a series of radio broadcasts Lewis did for BBC at the outset of WW II. Best explanation of what it means to be a Christian I have ever read.

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

Writing from the perspective of Satan, Lewis describes how Satan works in the lives of Christians to discourage and defeat them.

The Philippian Fragment by Calvin Miller

Fictional piece with a delightful blend of 1st century and 21st century cultures. Written in the form of letters from Eusebius of Philippi to his friend Clement of Coos. Funny, poignant and insightful.

The Valiant Papers by Calvin Miller

Valiant is a guardian angel sent to guard a person named John in Cleveland, Ohio.  Written in the form of letters from Valiant to the Committee of Guardian Angels in Heaven.  Again, funny, poignant and insightful.

A Grief Observed by C. S. Lewis

Simply the best book you can give to someone who has lost a loved one due to death. Lewis wrote this after his beloved wife Joy died of bone cancer in 1960.
